TEACHER OF PE job summary
Required for September 2022
TEACHER OF PE [MPS/UPS]
(with second subject Science or Maths being an advantage)
We are seeking to appoint a skilled teacher of PE, with the ability to teach Core PE throughout the school as well as examination courses at GCSE and A-Level by negotiation.
We welcome applications from Early Careers Teachers and we offer a fully supported induction programme, including regular subject specific mentoring & whole school professional development.
The successful candidate will be a well-qualified and dynamic teacher, committed to raising students’ skills and willing to take an active part in the Faculty’s thriving extra-curricular programme.
PE is taught to all students throughout Key Stage 3; students have a 1 hour 40 minute lesson and a 50 minute lesson each week. At Key Stage 4, as well as Core PE which is taught to all students, GCSE PE is a very well subscribed option. The subject is also popular in the Sixth Form and several students go on to study PE or health-related courses at higher education each year. Examination outcomes at both GCSE and A-level are strong.
The PE Faculty comprises 6 full time staff and several part-time staff. The Faculty teaching spaces comprise extensive grass playing fields, astro-turf pitch, outdoor tennis courts, sports hall, gymnasium, recently re-designed multi-gym and the faculty also has its own dedicated indoor classroom and IT suite.
We offer a comprehensive employee benefits package including support of the Teacher Pension Scheme, Cycle to Work Scheme, Discounted Onsite Gym Membership and onsite parking.
