Faculty overview- Physical Education Application process
Bosworth Academy is committed to offering a range of GCSE and Post 16 qualifications in the Physical Education curriculum area. This area is currently staffed by a team of 7 enthusiastic and dedicated professionals who work closely together to deliver an exciting and varied curriculum to our students.
In Physical Education all KS3 and 4 students take part in Core PE. We also offer a range of options at both GCSE and Post 16 for students who would like the choice of developing their knowledge and skills in PE.
Core Physical Education
All key stage 3 and 4 students take part in two hours of Core PE a week. Students will visit all of the sports facilities including the swimming pool, sports hall, gymnasium and sports dome. In key stage 3 the focus is very much on developing a broad range of fundamental movement skills that they can then transfer into a wide variety of sports specific skills. Teaching games for understanding and the development of fundamental movement skills is a philosophy we very much embrace. In key stage 4 students are encouraged to develop their independent learning and lessons will very often involve a Sports Education model.
GCSE Physical Education
GCSE PE is a popular option at Bosworth with impressive results year after year. The team of PE teachers work closely together to maximise the progress that our students make. KS4 students follow the Edexcel GCSE PE specification with the hope that they will continue their studies doing one of the post 16 PE options.
A Level Physical Education
AS/A2 PE continues to be a highly performing subject at Bosworth with ALPS regularly at 3 or above. Students follow the OCR course and study physiological, psychological and socio-cultural studies across the two-year course.
Application forms and further details can be downloaded from Eteach.
Completed application forms should be submitted via ETeach. An email will be sent to shortlisted candidates with details of the interview process and the outline of the day.
If you have any queries on any aspect of the application or need additional information, please contact the school or send an email via ETeach, where we will be happy to help you.
Thank you, and we are really looking forward to hearing from you.
