Teacher of Physical Education job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our high-performing Physical Education Department on a fixed term contract for one year. We are looking to appoint a PE teacher who is passionate about sport, physical literacy, and the pursuit of excellence in teaching to join our dynamic and high-achieving department. We are a highly successful department who work collaboratively to inspire and support students in learning the knowledge, skills, and understanding that will support them as they move onto the next stage of their lives. As a result, our PE provisions and sports teams are extremely popular, and we boast a strong culture of participation and excellence across the school.
The successful candidate will be, or have the potential to be, an outstanding teacher. They will be required to teach across the 11-16 age and ability range, with opportunities to teach some A Level groups where appropriate.
Fortismere is a high-attaining, mixed foundation secondary school in the heart of Muswell Hill, North London with a strong tradition of excellence. The Headteacher is looking to appoint a PE teacher on a fixed-term basis. Our school vision is one which sees education, and the opportunities we make available, as having the potential to transform the lives of our young people. The PE Department is well placed in the school to achieve our shared vision - it is a leading department in terms of both student engagement and progress. The successful candidate will work with other post-holders to further improve the academic and extracurricular impact of the department across the school community and will put students at the heart of what they do, maintaining outstanding results and progress.
The Successful Candidate Will Possess:
The ability to work across Key Stages and deliver inspiring, integrated practical and theoretical PE lessons.
A commitment to collaborative working and a true passion for teaching, team sports, and physical development
The ability to use formative and summative data (including Assessment for Learning) to close learning gaps and help students overcome barriers to achievement
Excellent behaviour management skills and the ability to confidently manage large-scale physical and educational resources
A strong desire to contribute substantially to our vibrant extra-curricular fixtures, clubs, and whole-school enrichment programmes.
