What skills and experience we're looking for

The newly appointed candidate will be working in a committed and successful team which regularly achieve success at city and regional level. We have invested heavily in our Physical Education facilities. Students have access to large and well maintained playing fields, a newly refurbished astro-turf, modernised changing facilities and a well equipped sports centre which includes its own fully fitted gym. The school has a strong tradition of extra-curricular provision which we are determined to maintain. Therefore, it is crucial that the applicant shares this commitment.

This post would suit an application from an early career teacher who would benefit enormously from strong mentoring, or alternatively from an experienced teacher who is looking to develop their skills in a new setting. The successful candidate will need to be able to teach across all age ranges and abilities. The ability to teach another subject would be desirable but not essential.

What the school offers its staff

Thank you for your interest in joining The King’s (The Cathedral) School at this exciting time. We are currently looking to appoint a Teacher of Physical Education with a focus on Girls’ PE.

The King’s (The Cathedral) School enjoys a very strong reputation both within the city and the local region. As one of a small number of state schools with close links to their local Cathedral, our distinct Christian culture lies at the heart of the school. We are a single academy Trust, located close to the city centre of Peterborough, educating students from the age of seven to eighteen.

We are rightly proud of our student’s academic achievements (progress is typically in the top 5% nationally for GCSE) but the educational philosophy at the school is far broader with students encouraged to take part in a wide range of extra-curricular activities including Music, Sport and Drama.

Commitment to safeguarding

The King’s (The Cathedral) School fully recognises the responsibility it has under section 175 of the Education
Act 2002 (as amended), the Apprenticeships, Skills, Children and Learning Act 2009 (as amended) and Education
and Training (Welfare of Children) Act, 2021 to have arrangements in place to safeguard and promote the
welfare of children.
