Teacher of Psychology and/or Sociology job summary

Hitchin Boys’ School (HBS) is a high achieving, over-subscribed comprehensive school with a mixed sixth form, which forms part of the highly successful Hitchin Schools’ Consortium. We have a history that stretches back nearly 400 years but embrace fresh thinking and a modern, vibrant curriculum. We have high expectations, excellent standards of behaviour and pride in our extra-curricular activities that lead to academically successful and well-rounded students who are well equipped for life beyond school. Following Ofsted's visit to Hitchin Boys' School in September 2021, we were delighted to announce that we have once again received top marks by retaining the judgement of ‘Outstanding’. Join an OUTSTANDING school! We wish to appoint a full time Teacher of Psychology and/or Sociology for September 2022. We are seeking an enthusiastic and able individual who will have the ability to motivate all students and to bring new ideas as the school builds on its excellent status. The ideal candidate will be ambitious, dynamic and have a passion for their subject. Ability to teach KS3 Humanities or Science alongside would be desirable but not essential. If this sounds like you and you are enthusiastic to take advantage of a new challenge then we would be delighted to hear from you. We offer a secure, supportive environment, a full induction programme for all new staff and continuous professional development. Applications from those wishing to contribute to other aspects of school life outside the classroom are particularly welcome. Applications from Early Career Teachers (ECTs) are welcomed as the school provides a thorough and successful training programme. This is an outstanding opportunity for someone who wants to join a high performing school and gain significant experience to further enhance their career. HBS is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS check will be carried out for all posts. Further details and an application form are available on the school website. Completed applications should be emailed to Mrs Becky Rose, HR Assistant at brose@hitchinboys.co.uk. Closing date: 9am Monday 16th May 2022 Interviews: w/c 16th May HBS welcomes applications from all applicants who meet the requirements for the position, however we are especially keen to receive applications from those in minority groups for which the School is currently underrepresented.
