Teacher of Psychology job summary

“The good life is a process, not a state of being. It is a direction, not a destination.” - Carl Rogers

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Teacher of Psychology to join our thriving department, on a Fixed-Term basis (We are open to flexible/part time working for this position). The successful candidate will have a strong academic background in Psychology and a passion for inspiring students to explore human behaviour, mental processes, and psychological research methods. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated educator to contribute to an engaging and supportive learning environment, helping students develop both critical thinking and analytical skills. Whether you’re an Early Career Teacher or an experienced Teacher, we welcome all individuals who are committed to delivering high-quality, engaging Psychology lessons that foster curiosity and academic success.

A-Level Psychology introduces students to the fascinating world of human thought, emotion, and behaviour through a scientific lens. It is a popular and engaging subject that combines elements of science, maths, and social studies, making it ideal for students with curious, analytical minds. At Hazel Grove Sixth Form, our A-Level Psychology curriculum offers a comprehensive introduction to key areas of psychological study. Students begin by exploring topics such as Social Influence, Memory, Attachment, and Psychopathology, building a strong foundation in understanding human behaviour. As the course progresses, learners delve into Psychology in context, gaining insight into major psychological approaches, Biopsychology, and essential research methods used in the field. The curriculum also encourages critical thinking through the exploration of key issues and debates in psychology — including discussions around nature vs nurture, free will vs determinism, and the wider implications of psychological theory in society.
