Teacher of Psychology job summary

Psychology is a thriving and successful subject within our sixth form. As a single-person department, you will have the opportunity to lead and shape the provision of Psychology across Years 12 and 13, teaching the AQA A Level Psychology specification. The subject enjoys a strong reputation within the academy, with outcomes consistently among the highest-performing A Level subjects.

Psychology offers a broad, challenging and engaging curriculum that encourages students to develop a deep understanding of human behaviour and the scientific processes used to investigate it. Students explore a wide range of topics, including social influence, memory, attachment, psychopathology, biopsychology, research methods and contemporary debates within the subject. The curriculum is carefully sequenced to build students’ knowledge and analytical skills over time, while providing regular opportunities for retrieval practice, application of knowledge and critical evaluation.

We are committed to enriching the student experience through innovative teaching approaches and opportunities beyond the classroom, helping students to develop both academically and personally. As a department, we are continually reviewing and developing our curriculum and resources to ensure they remain relevant, engaging and reflective of developments within the discipline. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to contribute to this ongoing development, bringing new ideas and approaches that inspire curiosity and a passion for Psychology. With consistently strong outcomes and high levels of student engagement, Psychology is a valued and successful subject that continues to grow within our sixth form provision.
