Are you passionate about exploring diverse cultures and beliefs? Join our dedicated team at Greenwood Academy and inspire students to engage critically with the world's religions and ethical questions. We seek a dedicated individual with a deep understanding of the subject and a genuine passion for imparting knowledge to young minds.
As a Teacher of Religious Education, you will:
* Deliver engaging and thought-provoking lessons exploring the beliefs, practices, and moral dilemmas in various religious traditions.
* Foster an environment of open dialogue and critical thinking, encouraging students to explore their own beliefs and values while respecting those of others.
* Cover diverse topics, including ethics, philosophy, and social justice, to develop students' moral and spiritual awareness.
* Support students in developing their analytical and evaluative skills by studying sacred texts, historical events, and contemporary issues.
* Organise and facilitate visits to places of worship, guest speaker sessions, and interfaith dialogues to enhance students' understanding and appreciation of different faith traditions.
Whether you are an experienced teacher or an Early Career Teacher, this role offers an opportunity to make a significant impact by teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4.
To support this, we offer a wide range of opportunities beyond the core curriculum, whether in the Arts, which include school productions, dance, drama, and music performances, or through our extensive sports programme, which takes advantage of grass and 4G pitches, a Sports hall with a specialist dance studio, and a Multi-Use Games Area.
Our state-of-the-art building and world-class facilities use the latest technology, including the Google Education platform, to enhance the learning environment. Most importantly, children and young adults at Greenwood Academy tell us they enjoy coming to school and feel safe and secure.

Lift Greenwood is a vibrant, successful 11-18 school situated in the heart of Castle Vale. We moved into our £20 million new build in September 2017 with world class facilities. Coupled with this is a highly professional staff and students who are keen to learn. As a result of being oversubscribed, we are embarking on the next wave of recruitment for the highest calibre of staff who can help us to grow our school community.
So why work at Lift Greenwood?
1. Teaching and Learning
Quality first teaching is at the core of everything we do. To support this, our evidence-based Teaching and Learning vision incorporates Barack Rosenshine’s Principles of Direct Instruction. Literacy is a significant part of every lesson. Standard written and Spoken English is insisted upon and modelled by all teachers to ensure our students can achieve their potential.
Most importantly, we do not grade observations at Lift Greenwood, we believe that regular, developmental feedback creates a strong, supportive and vibrant culture.
2. Expectations
We have a firm and fair approach to behaviour, systematically supported by senior staff; all pupil detentions are centralised and run by senior staff every day. Teachers are therefore able to prioritise the planning and teaching of their subject.
3. Work-life balance
We are committed to reducing teacher workload and making sure that everything we do has a positive impact on pupil learning. This means we have a slimmed-down marking policy, a centralised knowledge focused homework policy, no parents evenings and a minimal assessment, reporting and data entry cycle.
Ofsted
We are judged to be a 'Good' school and we were last inspected in October 2021.
