Teacher of RE, Citizenship and PSHE job summary

Do you have what it takes to work one of the top 5% of schools nationally? If so, we want to hear from you!
Our students are amazing. They are intelligent, articulate, funny, welcoming and appreciative of great teaching. They deserve the best and we intend to make sure that this is what they receive, in every subject, every day of their school lives.
Our staff are phenomenal. They are dedicated, passionate, dynamic, caring and inspiring. We strongly feel we have a world class team and we firmly believe that in every department we have strong teams that are capable of creating the truly great school that this community deserves.
Our facilities are outstanding. With over a £1 million of investment, our school boasts state-of-the-art classrooms, fantastic IT facilities, an unrivalled on-site Sports Village which includes a full-size 3G football pitch, a skate park and a dance studio, along with a partnered Alternative Provision.
Together, this makes Baysgarth one of the top performing schools in the Humber region, with eight consecutive years of record breaking, outstanding results. Our high-ability students make more progress than in any other local school and our inclusive wraparound care for every single student nurtures them to believe in themselves and their potential and reach their ambitions, now and in the future.
To build on this, we are currently looking for a highly motivated and committed Teacher of RE, Citizenship & PSHE to join our team with the skills and experience to deliver outstanding experiences for students in both KS3 and KS4. This small faculty has made a big impact across the whole school curriculum over the past 18 months and we seek a suitable candidate to continue this. There is also the opportunity for a TLR for the RE Curriculum available for the right candidate – please specify this on your application form. The department is led by a vibrant member of staff who has a clear passion for the subjects. The successful candidate will make up half of the team and will join at a very exciting time for the department and the school.
We are oversubscribed in almost every single year group, which reflects the first-class facilities we have on site as well as our fantastic students and staff who make the school a great place to learn. We pride ourselves on achieving outstanding outcomes in a school with an inclusive ethos that has superb pastoral care and a strong commitment to staff mental health and work-life balance.
Ofsted visited Baysgarth in October 2017 and concluded that we are a Good school which ‘has gone from strength to strength’ and is making ‘good progress on the journey to outstanding’. In terms of student achievement, Ofsted reported that ‘Overall progress was in the top 10% nationally … [and] current pupils are making strong progress in all year groups.’ The DfE have concluded that ‘there is no better performing similar school within 75 miles of Baysgarth’ and it is our mission to recruit the most talented staff to continue this progress.
Baysgarth School is an 11-16 comprehensive with approximately 970 pupils on roll; a number that will rise to over 1,000 in the next few years. The successful candidate will be expected to have pride, passion, positivity and vision and a desire to ensure the school has the highest possible reputation in the local community and beyond.
Baysgarth School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be required to apply for enhanced disclosure from the DBS.

Baysgarth School was founded in 1975 and has proudly been serving the communities of Barton-upon-Humber and the surrounding villages for almost 50 years. We have continually encouraged the best from each student and year on year the school is enjoying the most successful academic results in the school's proud history.
Over the last six years Baysgarth has undergone a complete transformation. In summer 2014 our results were the second worst in the Local Authority and were on a three-year downward trend. Since then, we have made significant and sustained improvements; in 2015 we were named the most improved school in North Lincolnshire and in 2016 we were in the top five schools in the Humber region, in the top two schools in North Lincolnshire and amongst the top 10% of schools nationally. Since then, Baysgarth has been in the top 5% of schools nationally for the progress we make with our students year on year.
We value each student and continually strive to enhance our broad and balanced curriculum to support the best outcomes and prepare our young people for their next steps and beyond.
