Teacher of Reception / EYFS job summary
Teacher of Reception / EYFS
Join a primary team recognised for its community spirit and commitment to every child’s success.
Bournville School’s Primary phase is thriving. The Early Years and primary provision (EYFS) is rated Good - with Ofsted praising our “aspirational curriculum” for being “meticulously planned and sequenced.” We are ambitious for every child – and we’re looking for a teacher who shares our values and is eager to help shape the next phase of our journey.
Deeply rooted in its community and recently nominated for Community School of the Year, Bournville has an on‑site Community Hub and a culture built on care, collaboration and individualised support. We are a close‑knit school, able to draw on the wider expertise and resources of our Secondary team and an established multi‑academy trust.
You will plan, deliver and assess high‑quality, engaging lessons and play an active role in the wider life of our school. We are seeking someone with experience, high expectations and the ambition to grow into a leadership role. As Mr McDermott, our Head of Primary, explains:
“We’re looking for a hard‑working, passionate and highly motivated individual who wants the autonomy to drive decisions and improvements from day one. Because we are smaller, teachers get to know every child and can take on whole‑school responsibilities earlier – with clear pathways into leadership. I’m looking for an experienced teacher ready for new challenges within an established multi‑academy trust.” for further insight into this role please see the video attached below

Ideal candidates will hold QTS and have a strong track record of raising attainment.
We offer the support and expertise of a well‑established multi‑academy trust, bespoke professional development, collaboration with colleagues across FMAT, on‑site parking, discounts at nationwide retailers and attractions via Perkbox, a community‑centred environment, and staff wellbeing support including free counselling and a MAT‑wide wellbeing focus.
We welcome informal visits. Contact Liz Jones on 0121 475 3881 or email m.mcdermott@bournville.fmat.co.uk for an informal chat about the role.
Fairfax Multi-Academy Trust is committed to the safeguarding and welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will therefore be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure via the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) as well as providing evidence of qualifications.
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (2013 and 2020).
