Teacher of Religious Education Part time 0.74 (full time considered); Permanent.
Salary scale: NQT – UPS3 (pay award pending)

Candidates would be expected to have a strong practising Christian faith and the ability to teach RE to GCSE level.

St Francis Xavier is a joint RC/CE 11-16 Mixed Comprehensive serving the picturesque market town of Richmond and the surrounding rural area. We are located close to the A1 and A66 and in commutable distance from York, Durham and Teesside. The school has an excellent reputation in the local community and are consistently oversubscribed.

• Evidence of successful experience/teaching practice as a classroom teacher of RE
• To have knowledge of and confidence in the use of pupil performance data
• To have a good understanding of RE, both its teaching and assessment.
• Understanding of strategies to raise achievement across Key Stages
• To have a good knowledge of current educational issues and initiatives.
• Ability to make lessons active, lively and focussed on pupil needs
• To be able to work with other adults both inside and outside of the classroom
• To be able to set clear objectives and targets for pupils, developing teaching sequences that show an ability to meet pupils’ academic needs
• To be able to use positive behaviour management systems to ensure pupils’ behaviour is conducive to learning
