What skills and experience we're looking for
Are you looking to develop your career in a thriving, friendly and supportive standalone academy where staff welfare is a priority? Are you passionate about your students and committed to unlocking their potential in an academy that has high expectations of everyone? If so, The Bishop of Winchester Academy wants you!
We are seeking someone with a deep passion for religious studies and embedding it within a receptive and supportive environment at a thriving Church of England academy. You will care about your subject and have the ability to bring vibrancy to RS so that students are curious and interested, and encouraged to critique, learn and progress further.
This is an exciting opportunity for either an established teacher or an ECT to inspire the next generation of students to shine. We are a friendly and welcoming academy who will ensure that whatever your career stage, you will be supported by an inspirational and forward-thinking team to develop further knowledge and enhance your teaching tool kit. We welcome applications from all teachers including ECTs. So, whether you are looking to reinvigorate your engagement with the profession, or you are new to teaching and want to develop your talent, this is the ideal role and environment for you.
As a standalone academy, we believe in our teachers being able to do the role they are employed to do, which is to deliver engaging lessons to our students. We therefore have an easy and structured behaviour system for our students and you to follow in lessons. After this, we have dedicated teams who intervene and leave you to continue with the job you love doing!
Our Head of Religious Studies would be delighted to take you on a tour of the school and give you the opportunity to meet the department and answer any questions you may have.
As Teacher of Religious Studies, you will be welcomed into an experienced team of professionals to:
- Progress the RS department to even greater successes
- Plan and deliver high quality and engaging lessons that will challenge and inspire our students
- Encourage students to have high expectations of themselves and their behaviour
- Engage students in study at GCSE Level (A-Level is desirable)
- Be a positive role model and supportive mentor to students, making a lasting impact on their lives
