The Role: We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our Science Department as the Second in Department. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the Head of Science in leading and managing the department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning are maintained. While a specialism in Physics is preferred, it is not essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head of Science in the leadership and management of the department.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of departmental policies and practices.
  • Support the planning and delivery of high-quality Science lessons across all key stages.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing targeted support where necessary.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Participate in the professional development of departmental staff.
  • Engage with parents and carers to support student achievement and well-being.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in a relevant Science subject.
  • Proven experience in teaching Science at secondary level.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development.
  • A passion for Science education and a desire to inspire students.

Desirable:

  • Specialism in Physics.
