The Role: We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our Science Department as the Second in Department. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the Head of Science in leading and managing the department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning are maintained. While a specialism in Physics is preferred, it is not essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Head of Science in the leadership and management of the department.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of departmental policies and practices.
- Support the planning and delivery of high-quality Science lessons across all key stages.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing targeted support where necessary.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Participate in the professional development of departmental staff.
- Engage with parents and carers to support student achievement and well-being.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in a relevant Science subject.
- Proven experience in teaching Science at secondary level.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to continuous professional development.
- A passion for Science education and a desire to inspire students.
Desirable:
- Specialism in Physics.
