Job Overview
Are you a highly skilled, creative and ambitious Teacher of Science?
Are you seeking your first teaching role or seeking a new challenge and the opportunity to join a highly successful school where staff well-being is central to all decision making?
Are you able to teach any two of the Science disciplines at KS3 and 4?
Do you have a passion for teaching and a commitment to providing students an exceptional experience?
Do you want to work in a department with ten, well resourced, dedicated laboratories, excellent access to computers and a highly talented, supportive team of technicians?
Can you deliver high quality, engaging science lessons and contribute to the continued success of a department where results are above national averages and sixth form recruitment is strong?
Do you believe in an inclusive environment where all learners can be successful?
Would you like to work in a school where “Leaders, including governors, value the work of staff and where new teachers speak highly of the support they are given”? (Ofsted June 2023)
If the answer to any of these questions is “yes” then we would love to hear from you!
Waingels, a popular 11-18 school where students achieve above national average and was identified as “continuing to be good” in a recent OFSTED inspection, is seeking to appoint an experienced Teacher of Science from January 2026 to add further capacity to this highly successful, popular subject.
This is an exciting opportunity for either a new or recently qualified teacher or an experienced teacher seeking a new challenge and the chance to develop their skills in a highly supportive environment.
Science is taught in ten, well-equipped, dedicated laboratories with excellent support provided by three technicians. A topic based curriculum at Key Stage 3 prepares students well for studying Single, Double or Separate sciences at GCSE where our results continue to improve every year. A-Levels in Biology, Chemistry and Physics and BTEC Applied Human Biology are always popular subjects at post-16.
Please refer to our recruitment pack for a full job description and person specification.
Working with us offers you the opportunity to:
Join a “kind and caring school” where pupils “enjoy being part of the inclusive community” (OFSTED 2023) that aims to be an “exceptional school at the heart of our community”.
Be part of a forward-thinking department with well-resourced schemes of work and where teachers are given autonomy and are encouraged to be innovative and try out a range of teaching styles.
Engage in excellent, personalized, professional development opportunities
Join a school where early finishes for parent consultation evenings and free tea and coffee every day are just some of the ways we aim to support staff well-being.
Work in a school that has been designated a “Leading” school for Personal Development by Challenge Partners.
Work in a school where the values of Respect, Kindness, Pride and Responsibility underpin all we do.
If you feel your value and ethos align with ours, this is an exciting opportunity for you to pursue and advance your career.
Our staff and students are proud of our school and we would be happy to welcome you if you would like to come and have a closer look round before applying. Additionally, please feel free to contact us for an informal conversation with a hiring manager.
