Required for the new academic year (January 2024 start or earlier by negotiation), a creative, aspiring and reflective teacher with a passion for Science to join our dedicated department of experienced, supportive and inspirational staff working in our well-resourced Science faculty.

We strive at Humphry Davy School to nurture ‘a true sense of belonging’ with strong, mutually respectful relationships core to our success. Our Science Faculty is integral to our success, inspiring students to think about and engage with the World around them and to build on their own experiences and knowledge.

What the school offers its staff

This is an exciting opportunity to join our popular and successful school in beautiful West Cornwall. Ofsted (Short Inspection November 2016) judged the school as ‘good’ and stated, “Across the school we found that pupils were very keen to learn. Pupils we spoke with enjoy coming to school and feel that they are making good progress. Pupils are well-mannered and keen to tell visitors how good the school is and how it keeps them safe”. A more recent visit in July 2022 by the LA education effectiveness team highlighted how staff create a positive atmosphere and inclusive ethos, leading to all students having a sense of belonging to the Humphry Davy Community.

We value our long-standing and well-deserved reputation for a cooperative and inclusive ethos which encourages, supports and develops students of all abilities. Our staff are recognised as sharing this strong commitment to raising standards, and there are plenty of opportunities to get involved beyond your core responsibilities if you so choose.

Applications are welcome from both NQTs and other teachers looking to broaden their experience who share our vision to create an inspiring and vibrant place for learning that enriches, and is a valued part of the Penzance community. The applicant appointed can be assured of our full support in their further professional and career development.

If you have the energy, drive and inspiration, we look forward to hearing from you.
