Teacher of Science job summary

We are looking for an inspiring Teacher of Science who can bring curiosity to life and spark the imaginations of the next generation of thinkers, tinkerers, and trailblazers.

Teaching science is a bit like running a magic show, except your tricks are real, the audience is allowed to ask “why?” every five seconds, and sometimes the laws of thermodynamics ruin your punchline. It’s part performance, part coaching, part troubleshooting, and part cheerleading for curiosity.

Our offer to you

  • A positive and innovative learning culture supported by staff, students, parents, and OCL governance.
  • Enthusiastic students who are eager to learn and thrive in a structured environment.
  • A hardworking, supportive team that values creativity and collaboration.
  • A highly competitive salary and benefits, including a generous pension scheme.
  • Free access to our on-site gym (perfect for blowing off steam after double Year 9 on a Friday).
  • Extensive opportunities for professional development and career progression.
  • The chance to be part of an organisation with a national reputation for raising standards and transforming communities.

What you’ll be doing

  • Deliver engaging lessons across physics, chemistry, and biology, making complex concepts exciting and accessible.
  • Encourage students’ natural curiosity by fostering inquiry, critical thinking, and a love of discovery.
  • Lead practical experiments safely and confidently (because bunsen burners and test tubes never go out of style!).
  • Help students connect classroom theory with real-world applications.
  • Inspire unforgettable “Eureka!” moments that spark a lasting love of science.

From atomic bonds before lunch to ecosystems after, every day will keep you (and your students) on your toes!

Why Oasis Academy Wintringham

Our Academy is a fantastic place to teach and learn. We’re a forward-thinking, Ofsted “Good” school, and our Year 7 intake has been oversubscribed for three years running; a testament to our growing reputation.

We’re incredibly proud of our journey so far and are looking for a brilliant science educator to join us. Our vision is clear: every student has the opportunity to climb the stairway to university, or a real alternative, and lead a fulfilling and happy life.

We believe in high expectations, structured support, and the power of great teaching to help every child achieve their full potential.

The ideal candidate will have

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and experience in secondary science education (ECTs welcome—our induction programme is excellent!).
  • A genuine love for science and the ability to share that passion with young people.
  • The skills to turn tricky concepts into memorable, engaging lessons.
  • Patience, creativity, adaptability, and a sense of humour (especially when experiments don’t go quite to plan!).
  • Strong curriculum knowledge and excellent communication skills.
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a dedicated and supportive team.

Whether you’re an ECT ready to start your teaching journey or an experienced teacher looking for a fresh challenge, this is your chance to inspire, innovate, and make a real impact.

Closing date: 9.00am 30th Sept 2025
