What skills and experience we're looking for
Organise and prepare for all lessons, and share good practice with colleagues wherever possible
Teach lessons which meet students’ specific learning needs, assess, monitor and record progress and be up‐to‐date with curriculum developments
Ensure continuity and progression by supporting colleagues in choosing the appropriate sequence of teaching and learning methods and setting clear objectives through an agreed scheme of work
create a stimulating learning environment for teaching and learning
promoting team commitment with colleagues through collaborative planning
Maintaining high expectations for student’s behaviour and attitude to learning within the classroom
to be accountable for the student’s attainment, progress and outcomes
Adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of students in the class
To be knowledgeable of and work towards becoming a coach across each of the teacher standards

The Opportunity?
We are seeking to appoint an inspiring, enthusiastic and vibrant Science Teacher to join our Science and Technology Faculty at Thurston Community College.
The Faculty is staffed by experienced teachers who are passionate about their subjects and their teaching. The Faculty work collaboratively and welcome forward-thinking initiatives and are able to offer a new colleague advice, support and professional development opportunities in a friendly, positive and creative environment.
Within Science there are outstanding resources for teaching and learning with a total of sixteen laboratories across our two campuses and dedicated preparation areas. All staff and students have access to excellent ICT resources for use both within the laboratories and in specialist ICT suites.
We welcome applications from experienced and early careers teachers.
