The Science department (which includes Health) consists of five (3 science, 2 Health) teaching staff in total, plus a technician – the college has 210 students in year 9-11 and 40 Sixth Form students. All students complete the AQA Combined Science Trilogy pathway in Year 11. Classes are broadly set by ability. At KS5, Physics A level and Medical Science BTEC are taught.
In the Health specialism, we deliver OCR Nationals (L2), Child development (L2) and OCR Technicals (L3) and Sociology GCE.
For wider curriculum and school information please see the website.
Each teacher has their own specialist teaching space.
The successful candidate will be able to plan and teach engaging Science and Health Science lessons as part of our STEM-rich curriculum. Students have discrete Science lessons from KS3 to KS5 and the successful candidate must be able to teach across the ability range.
The teaching load split between Science and Health is approximately 3:2.

“A school of opportunity”; “Leaders and staff describe the school as a family. They feel mutually supported and value the attention leaders give them. Staff morale is extremely high.” “Behaviour is calm and respectful. In lessons, pupils are attentive and want to learn.” Ofsted 2022
Scarborough UTC underwent an Ofsted Inspection in November 2022 and were awarded “Good” across the board. There has been a transformational change since the previous pre-covid inspection, it is a growing college. We would encourage any applicant to have read the inspection report, which is the rightful and accurate summation of considerable work by the college staff.
A visit in person is highly recommended to get a real flavour of the superb learning environment and day to day running of this unique experience.
