Start Date: September 2026

Closing Date: 8am Tuesday 24th February 2026

We are looking for an inspirational practitioner to teach science within their subject specialism in our successful and thriving science department at Horsforth School.

You will have the opportunity to enhance our vision of ‘opportunity and achievement for all’ as a member of a department with a strong track record of quality results; we have consistently attained some of the best A-level results in Leeds, and our GCSE progress in science is ‘well above average’.

With our brand new sixth form block containing four state-of-the-art science laboratories, this is a fantastic time to join Horsforth School’s vibrant science department.

Our school is dedicated to evidence-based practice with a focus on Rosenshine’s principles of instruction. We have a strong emphasis on incorporating educational research into the classroom. The successful candidate will be a dynamic and enthusiastic teacher, where you will have the opportunity of working in a supportive and experienced science department with a strong team ethos. We believe in working collaboratively, sharing ideas and supporting each other to achieve great things as we develop innovative teaching and learning strategies. There is a strong emphasis on science at Horsforth School as we are a former Science College which leads to a high uptake of all science A levels and triple science GCSE.

We are looking for a teacher who can add to our large diverse team of practitioners and to share our love of science to inspire the next generation of future STEM graduates.

This would be an ideal opportunity for an experienced colleague who can teach across the ability range at KS3, KS4 and KS5. The position offers an excellent opportunity for either an established teacher or an ECT to join our high achieving school with an opportunity to teach to A level standard for suitable applicants. Science is delivered in subject specialism from year 9 as we have a firm belief in the importance of subject knowledge.
