Teacher of Science (ideally Biology) job summary

We are looking for a Teacher of Science (ideally Biology), to join our special team commencing in September 2020. We are looking for a candidate who is able to:
- ensure that students make excellent progress in classes taught, and that they enjoy them
- plan and teach lessons to a consistently high standard, such that:
- Learners are clear about the learning expectations.
- Learners are actively engaged and have the opportunity to apply themselves independently.
- Learners, of all abilities, are appropriately challenged.
- Learners make good progress in developing their: mastery, knowledge, understanding, skills and ideas (or lesson is setup to provide this).
- Marking is up to date, gives evaluative feedback and allows students the means and opportunities to improve their work. Marking addresses standards of literacy.
- Mark books show knowledge of progress and needs of each student.

- be a form tutor, supporting the academic, social, moral and cultural development of students in their care. To deliver their PSHE and citizenship education.

- contribute to planning courses and curriculum development. To develop appropriate syllabuses, resource schemes of work, marking policies, and teaching strategies in the curriculum area. To contribute to whole college planning activities.

- monitor student progress to inform teaching and learning and intervene, promptly and appropriately, with students when necessary.

- fully participate in the enrichment programme and to cross-curricular and extra-curricular work.
