Joseph Leckie Academy are seeking to appoint an inspiring and enthusiastic classroom teacher to join our dynamic and expanding Science department. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced teacher or an early career teacher (ECT), looking to start your career or expand your experience; our warm, inclusive and dynamic Academy is the place for you.

The Science Faculty is comprised of a large team of experienced teachers and middle leaders, including a Head of Faculty, Key Stage Leaders, Lead Practitioner, teaching assistants and technicians, all who offer a wealth of support and professional advice to staff at all levels. There are 13 specialist laboratories for practical lessons, as well as access to computer rooms for vocational coursework. We are passionate about promoting STEM subjects and, as such, offer AQA Trilogy Combined Science and AQA Separate Science, Pearson BTEC Level 3 Applied Science and all three A-Level disciplines, with the hope to begin offering AAQs in 2026.

You will have/show:

  • QTS or equivalent and an honours degree in Biology, Chemistry or Physics.
  • Practical skills and expertise as outlined in the Job description.
  • A passion and vision for working with students in their personal, social and emotional needs as well as their academic development.
  • The ability to motivate and inspire students.
  • Experience of delivering GCSE Combined Science and/or Separate Science is essential and preferably also Single Science in at least one of the specialist areas, though it is expected you will teach all three areas.
  • The ability to teach A Level in one of the three areas or BTEC Applied Science at KS5 is highly desirable.
  • The passion to enrich the lives of our students and contribute to the development of Cultural Capital to enhance the life opportunities for our students.
  • A clear understanding of the importance of Safeguarding.
