What skills and experience we're looking for
We are seeking to appoint a passionate and talented Teacher of Science to join our thriving Science Faculty at Oathall Community College. This is a temporary maternity cover position starting in May 2026, with flexibility on the start date. The post is offered at 0.8 FTE, although full-time applications will also be considered. The length of the maternity cover contract is open. The successful candidate will be able to teach Science at Key Stage 3 and 4.
This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding ECT or an experienced practitioner to join a strong, successful, and supportive team within a high-performing and forward-thinking school.

The Science team consists of 11 specialist teachers , supported by 5 technicians and a dedicated faculty assistant. The science teachers follow an enquiry and contextualised based approach to learning and the comprehensive schemes of work are continually reviewed to ensure the highest standards. Students achieve excellent exam results with all students completing a minimum of AQA Combined Science GCSE, or study for Triple Science as an accelerated programme. The faculty also offers GCSE Psychology, BTEC Health and Social Care and BTEC Animal Care as part of the KS4 options process
Science is accommodated in well-resourced, modern laboratories. The faculty has access to a suite of Chromebooks for student use, as well as a dedicated work areas for staff. Science teaching is well supported by technicians.
