Teacher of Science job summary
In May 2017 Newmarket Academy was rated 'good' by Ofsted. We invite you to join us as we move this good school to 'excellence'.
The core aims/values of this school are:
• Making a difference to the lives of young people
• Being a great place to work where colleagues are valued, supported and encouraged to grow
• A school which seeks to challenge itself
• A school which embraces creativity, innovation and change driven by all colleagues
We want to be the best school in the area. We are looking to recruit an ambitious and innovative colleague to play a major role in that journey. We are a key member of the Unity Schools Partnership which celebrates professional development and career development. The Teaching school and an active talent management programme will support the successful candidate in this post and in their future career within the Trust and beyond if necessary.
Our community believes in our vision and supports our journey. In the autumn of 2019 the school completed a multi-million-pound refurbishment project sponsored by the generosity of the local community. The refurbishment has provided the school with brand new computers for staff and students, a new library with over 20,000 books in a state-of-the-art building with a superb new SEND area, Engineering department, audio-visual equipment and tennis courts.
We are looking for a creative, innovative and enthusiastic practitioner to join our Science Team from January 2020. We want you to share our passion for teaching and learning, someone who is keen to motivate and challenge our students and our colleagues. We currently follow AQA Combined Science GCSE although we anticipate the successful candidate working with students from year 7-11.
We have excellent STEM links within the community and run lots of exciting curriculum enrichment sessions and extracurricular activities such as robot club. We would welcome anyone with experience in running extracurricular clubs or who has a particular passion for a field of science that they would like to share with the students.
Our Science team is an incredibly supportive team of professionals who are supported by an excellent leadership team, who draw on the wider Trust for additional support, professional development and career progression opportunities.
The Academy offers:
• Well-being day each year.
• Opportunity for career progression into senior leadership.
• Professional development qualifications.
• Access to the training and professional development programmes of the Teaching and research schools in the Trust.

Newmarket Academy is a 'Good' School with outstanding ambition. We know how to make progress, to succeed and to keep striving to do better - and so do our students.
Our students are the heart of the school, the school is the heart of the community and those relationships mean everything to us. Ofsted, who judged the Academy in 2017 to be a 'Good' school, recognised this when they commented that the 'teachers know their students well and in turn students trust their teachers'. They also recognised that our students have 'high expectations of themselves and each other' and we know they have high expectations of us.
We value the success of every individual, their honesty and integrity, celebrate and foster resilience and independence. Our aim is to be a school the community is as proud of as we are of our students. Our students who every day, just like us, strive to progress, succeed and keep doing better.
