About the role
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, skilled and ambitious Teacher of Science (Physics and/or chemistry) to join our team of committed staff from May 2026. You will also be wishing to develop your career by taking on a curriculum leadership role within the Science department.
The science department aims to inspire students to understand the world they live in through learning. You will be joining a supportive team and delivering a well-resourced curriculum. In spring 2028 we will be moving into a brand new school building.
We are looking for a colleague with the skills and experience to work with our excellent head of science to ensure we have the very best pedagogical approaches aligned with our curriculum. You will have a role in monitoring the curriculum. You may also be a mentor for trainee and/or early career teachers.

About you
As a Teacher of Science and Head of Year you will be liaising with the Vice Principal, SLT and other Heads of Year and appropriate teaching staff, outside agencies and relevant staff with cross-academy responsibilities.

Ormiston Sudbury Academy is based in the market town of Sudbury, which is in the southwest of Suffolk, near the Essex border. It has been part of OAT for over 10 years, joining the trust in September 2012. The school is an 11-18 co-educational academy with just over 700 students. The number of students who are eligible for pupil premium funding is slightly above the national average.
