Contract type: Full-Time, Permanent

Salary: MPS/UPS incl. Fringe

Start Date: April/September 2025

Rickmansworth School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Science Teacher to join our enthusiastic team. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire and support students in their scientific journey, helping them develop a deep understanding of the subject and achieve their full potential. As a Science Teacher at our school, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality lessons across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 (Chemistry and/or Physics), contributing to the overall success of the department and the school. If you are committed to fostering a love for science and creating an engaging learning environment, we would love to hear from you. The School’s admissions criteria gives preference to staff members’ children (as there is a demonstrable skill shortage for this post, the successful candidate could apply for a priority admission place for their own child).

About the Science Department:

The Science Department is exceptional, with a proven track record of achieving outstanding results at both GCSE and A-Level. Separate Science is a particularly popular option at GCSE, with eight Key Stage 4 classes.

The department consists of thirteen experienced members, fostering a strong and collaborative team atmosphere. We work closely together to support and enhance each other's practice while sharing expertise. The department is supported by three technicians who work alongside teaching staff to ensure a stimulating practical curriculum which inspires our students. We offer a variety of extracurricular opportunities, including a Key Stage 3 Science Club, STEM initiatives, and subject-specific Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 study clubs.

The sciences are a popular choice in the Sixth Form, with approximately 100 students studying these subjects at A-Level. The ability to teach up to and including Key Stage 5 is highly desirable.

Applications from ECT’s are welcome.

In return, we will offer you

  • Outstanding CPD opportunities to support your professional growth

  • A school with exemplary student behaviour, where learning is valued

  • A collaborative working environment where teamwork is at the heart of everything we do

  • Highly skilled and supportive staff, working together to make a difference

  • A comprehensive wellbeing programme to ensure you feel valued and supported
