Teacher of Secondary Combined Science (Full Time) job summary

We are seeking to appoint an experienced, innovative, and inspirational Teacher of Secondary Combined Science to join our dedicated team within a diverse and supportive Pupil Referral Unit (PRU). This role involves teaching Science across Key Stages 3 and 4 (Years 7–11), with a focus on delivering high-quality, engaging lessons that support the academic and personal development of pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

The successful candidate will play a key role in leading the improvement of Science provision across the school, ensuring that all learners—many of whom face significant barriers to education—are given the opportunity to achieve their full potential. You will be expected to demonstrate a strong track record of effective classroom practice, particularly in settings that support vulnerable or at-risk pupils, including PRUs, EOTAS, Alternative Provisions, or mainstream schools with high levels of SEND or SEMH.

This is a demanding yet highly rewarding position that requires a high level of resilience, empathy, and professionalism. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including our Hospital Education Service, Home Tuition Provision, and Outreach Inclusion Support Team, to provide a consistent and nurturing learning environment.

We offer:

  • A supportive and collaborative leadership team
  • Recently upgraded outdoor PE facilities
  • On-site parking and excellent public transport links
  • An Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ school environment
  • Opportunities for professional development and career progression
