π§ Understanding society. Exploring behaviour. Opening futures.
At Kettering Science Academy, we believe education should help young people make sense of the world and their place within it. Our Post-16 Social Sciences offer plays a vital role in developing critical thinking, empathy, and informed decision-making as students prepare for their next steps.
We are seeking a passionate and reflective Teacher of Social Sciences to join our team, with the role predominantly focused on Key Stage 5. We currently offer Sociology, Psychology, and Criminology at Post-16, and we particularly welcome applications from colleagues with strengths in Psychology and/or Sociology.
π§ You will be joining KSA at an exciting point in the development of Social Sciences. While the current role is centred on Post-16 delivery, there is scope in the future to explore offering Social Science subjects further down the school as the department grows. This is an opportunity to contribute not just to excellent teaching, but to thoughtful, sustainable curriculum development over time.
This role would suit an experienced Post-16 teacher or an early career colleague with a strong academic background and a desire to develop expertise in sixth form teaching within a supportive, values-led environment.
The role will involve:
π Teaching Social Science subjects predominantly at Key Stage 5
π Delivering high-quality lessons in Sociology, Psychology, and/or Criminology
𧩠Planning purposeful, well-sequenced Post-16 curricula
π Using assessment intelligently to support progress and achievement
π€ Working collaboratively with colleagues across the academy
π₯ Building strong, respectful relationships with Post-16 students
What we offer:
π€ A supportive and reflective professional culture
π« A modern school environment with excellent facilities
π High-quality CPD and induction through the Brooke Weston Trust
π₯ Daily allowance for breakfast and lunch
π± A school culture rooted in unconditional regard and high expectations
We are looking for someone who:
π Has strong subject knowledge in Psychology and/or Sociology
π§ Is passionate about Post-16 education and academic depth
π Is reflective, open to feedback, and committed to continual improvement
π¬ Communicates clearly and builds positive relationships with students
π± Shares our belief that kids do well if they can, and that great teaching opens doors
If you are excited by the idea of shaping and strengthening a growing Post-16 Social Sciences offer, and potentially helping it expand in the future, we would love to hear from you.
