Teacher of Social Sciences (MAT COVER) job summary

We are seeking a dedicated and inspiring Teacher of Social Sciences to join our successful and growing department at Coopers School, part of the Orion Education Trust. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic teacher of Psychology and Sociology to make a meaningful impact on students’ academic progress and personal development within a supportive, values‑driven school community.

The successful candidate will deliver high‑quality, well‑sequenced lessons that engage students across a range of abilities, ensuring that learning is ambitious, inclusive and purposeful. You will hold high expectations for all students, using assessment and data effectively to monitor progress, close gaps and support positive outcomes. Strong subject knowledge and reflective practice will be key to inspiring curiosity, critical thinking and independent learning in the social sciences.

As a member of the department, you will contribute actively to curriculum development and work collaboratively with colleagues to share best practice and continually improve teaching and learning. You will also play a full role in the wider life of the school, including pastoral responsibilities, enrichment activities, and events such as open evenings, supporting our holistic approach to education.
