Teacher of Social Sciences job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Teacher of Criminology, Psychology, Sociology (subject to teacher specialism) to join our Social Sciences team from September 2025 or earlier. The successful candidate will have to teach students in Sixth Form and you will be responsible for planning and delivering creative, engaging lessons to ensure students achieve their best outcomes. The school is seeking an ambitious, highly motivated professional with excellent subject knowledge to deliver high-quality teaching, inspiring students to achieve their full potential. We aim to recruit the right person for the role and will support the right candidate with extensive training and development opportunities.

We welcome applications from ECTs or more experienced teachers wishing to broaden their experience.

The role requirements:

  • To plan and deliver engaging and well-structured lessons in Psychology, Sociology and/or Criminology for our Sixth Form students.

  • Foster a stimulating learning environment that supports student progress and attainment.

  • Assess, monitor, and provide constructive feedback to support student development.

  • Contribute to the wider life of the school, including extracurricular activities and student support initiatives.

  • Work collaboratively within a dedicated team to uphold the school’s ethos and high academic standards.

The successful applicant will need to:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.

  • Have a strong academic background in Psychology, Sociology and/or Criminology or a related discipline.

  • Demonstrate experience of teaching Psychology, Sociology and/or Criminology at A Level, with a track record of securing excellent student outcomes.

  • Be passionate about their subject and committed to inspiring students.

  • Have excellent communication and organisational skills.

  • Be a team player, with a commitment to continuous professional development.
