What skills and experience we're looking for

Are you passionate about shaping future citizens who think critically, care deeply, and contribute meaningfully to society? We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Teacher of Sociology, Health & Social Care, and Psychology to join our thriving Social Studies faculty; a dynamic, diverse, and ambitious team committed to excellence in teaching and learning.

Our faculty is proud to deliver an enriching and thought-provoking curriculum that empowers students to explore and understand the complexities of the world around them. From analysing key social issues and British values to examining the impact of healthcare and the psychology behind human behaviour, our curriculum challenges learners to form and express their own informed opinions. We encourage them to engage with real world problems, whether it's debating how to care for our ageing population or exploring solutions to the housing crisis in the UK.

We are a faculty that sets high expectations, prioritises social responsibility, and fosters curiosity. With strong uptake across GCSE and A-Level in subjects such as Sociology, Psychology, Business, Economics, Geography, and Health & Social Care, our department plays a central role in the school community. Our recent strategic focus includes advancing high achievement (HA) through curriculum design and intervention, as well as closing gaps for pupil premium (PP) students with a 'PP first' approach.

If you are looking for a professional environment where collaboration, innovation, and development are at the heart of what we do, we would love to hear from you.

Whilst it would be beneficial to teach all three subjects, this is not a requirement.

The successful applicant will:

  • Be both ambitious and passionate about teaching and bringing out the best from every single one of our students.
  • Be enthusiastic about promoting best outcomes for all students, regardless of ability levels.
  • Have an ability to engage, enthuse and motivate students.
  • Have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Deliver a curriculum that inspires and engages students and provides an aspirational and challenging learning experience.
  • Be a committed, highly competent, energised, reflective and resilient individual.

What the school offers its staff

We will play to your strengths and can offer you:

  • A programme of training and development for the next stage in your career.
  • Well-resourced classrooms and equipment. All staff have an iPad, as do the majority of our students. We are passionate about embedding and making best use of technology within our lessons to enhance our curriculum delivery.
  • The opportunity to work within a supportive team of diligent and excellent teachers who have a wealth of expertise and experience and where innovation is fostered through faculty centred leadership.
  • A range of benefits which includes cycle to work, free parking, an employee discount scheme, provision of an iPad, a commitment to staff wellbeing and recognition initiatives through the Trust’s people strategy and well-being committee.
  • A strong and effective admin team to enable you to concentrate on your teaching.

You will be joining a school where staff share best practice so that our standard of teaching and support is both high quality and continually developing.

Commitment to safeguarding

Our organisation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. We expect all staff, volunteers and trustees to share this commitment.

Our recruitment process follows the keeping children safe in education guidance.
