Teacher of Sociology & Personal Development job summary

The Trust wishes to appoint an enthusiastic, ambitious and highly motivated Teacher of Sociology and Personal Development to join a dynamic, experienced and deeply committed team at Wembley High Technology College. This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about social sciences and student development, and keen to contribute to a high-performing team with a strong track record of success.

Sociology is a popular and growing subject within the Trust, with strong uptake at Key Stage 5 and a curriculum that encourages students to think critically about the world around them. Alongside this, Personal Development is a central pillar of our curriculum, ensuring that all students are equipped with the knowledge, skills and character to thrive in modern society. This includes a carefully sequenced programme covering relationships, health, citizenship, and preparation for life beyond school.

From September 2026, the Trust will launch the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP), providing an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to contribute to the development of a rich and conceptually driven curriculum in the social sciences and beyond. This represents a significant platform for professional growth, curriculum design, and collaboration within a forward-thinking educational environment.

The successful candidate will be creative, well organised and committed to excellence in the classroom, and will play a key role in further developing Sociology and Personal Development across the Trust. They will also contribute to our vibrant and wide-ranging extra-curricular programme, including debate, student leadership, enrichment activities, and opportunities that promote active citizenship and deepen students’ understanding of society.

We welcome applications from ECTs as well as those who wish to train to teach.
