Teacher of Sociology job summary

As a member of staff within our college, you will play a key role in fostering a positive, inclusive learning environment where all students are supported and challenged to succeed. You will plan and deliver engaging lessons that meet the needs of all learners, including those with SEND and those who are disadvantaged, and use a range of assessment strategies to monitor progress and inform teaching.

We are looking for a teacher who can draw on a broad repertoire of teaching approaches to stimulate curiosity, develop critical thinking and promote a deep understanding of sociological concepts. You will be reflective in your practice and willing to engage in our coaching and professional development model to continually refine your teaching.

Beyond the classroom, you will contribute to the wider life of the college, including enrichment opportunities, trips, and events, and support our strong sense of community through participation in activities such as Open Evenings and Parents’ Evenings.

This role would suit both an early career teacher and a more experienced practitioner, particularly someone who is keen to develop further and contribute to the ongoing development of Social Sciences within the college.

St Augustine’s is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff to share this commitment.
