Sociology is one of the most popular options amongst pupils at the college at both KS4 and KS5. The successful candidate will be joining a team of teachers that have taught the Sociology for a number of years and have a strong sense of commitment and passion for the subject. The social sciences department has worked hard to remodel the curriculum for KS4 and KS5 Sociology to support the continued success of our pupils and the successful applicant will contribute to the continued success of the department in improving curriculum access. The department has embedded Rosenshine’s principles into the core of its practice and encourages insightful discussions on all topics that the social sciences explore in order to support the development of curious and empathetic students.
The social sciences department consistently produces strong results with 50% of KS4 students obtaining 7-9 and 75% gaining 5-9 with a 0.87 P8 score in 2024. At KS5 our sociology results are also positive with an L3VA score of 0.48.
