Teacher of Spanish job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic, committed and dynamic teacher of Spanish, who has the passion to take language learning to the next level, to work within our friendly and supportive team.

The successful candidate will be an individual who can demonstrate a passion for the subject, have the ability to inspire students, show commitment to high quality teaching and learning, and have an excellent understanding of the Spanish curriculum.

They will also have experience of working with children aged 11-16 years and be able to demonstrate they can implement the academy’s commitment to the safety and welfare of children. This position is suitable for all teachers, including those undertaking an ECT programme.

Working with students in both Key Stage 3 and 4, you will:

Promote good progress and outcomes by being aware of students’ capabilities and their prior knowledge, and plan teaching to build on these, along with encouraging students to take a responsible and conscientious attitude to their own work and study

Demonstrate good subject and curriculum knowledge

Plan and teach well-structured lessons, promoting a love of learning and children’s intellectual curiosity, and setting homework and planning other out-of-class activities to consolidate and extend the knowledge and understanding students have acquired

Adapt teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of all students

Make accurate and productive use of assessment

Manage behaviour effectively to ensure a good and safe learning environment

Fulfil wider professional responsibilities, by making a positive contribution to the wider life and ethos of the academy, developing effective professional relationships with colleagues, taking responsibility for improving teaching through appropriate professional development, and delivering pastoral work as specified by the Head of Year, communicating effectively with parents with regard to students’ achievements and wellbeing.
