Teacher of the Deaf job summary

Icknield High School is a highly successful mixed Academy with an excellent reputation, situated in pleasant grounds on the northern outskirts of Luton.

We are seeking to appoint an experienced & enthusiastic Teacher of the Deaf to work with and support students aged 11 to 16 years.

The successful applicant will have Qualified Teacher of the Deaf status and will be responsible for the daily running of the Local Authority Hearing Impaired Provision within the school.

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate:

A commitment to the academic progress and emotional well-being of all students within the provision.

A commitment to ensuring the Hearing Impaired provision meets Quality Standards as set by the Local Authority.

Ability to work in partnership with staff and outside agency professionals to plan and deliver effective curriculum, including Deaf Awareness and classroom strategies to meet specific needs.

Ability to provide professional development for all staff working with Deaf and Hearing Impaired students.

Salary for this position is on the Teachers Main Pay Scale (starting point is subject to relevant experience) plus SEN allowance.
