Cedars Manor School is a mainstream school in Harrow Weald serving a very diverse
community. Cedars Manor School is an inclusive school as we meet the needs of pupils
with a wide range of needs. Based within the school we have an additional resource base
(ARMS unit).
Pupils in the ARMS unit generally join our school in Early Years and then stay with us until
secondary school. As the pupils come from hearing families, we use Sign Supported English
as our main tool to support communication and language development. Although it is not
essential that the successful candidate needs to know SSE, we would require someone who
has a good understanding of BSL so that they could pick up SSE quickly. Our ARMS pupils
learn alongside their own class for most of the time with activities that are supported by
sign and appropriate resources. We would expect the successful applicant to be able to
advise and support other colleagues in the school with best practice.
Cedars Manor is a modern building and the ARMS unit has been provided with two rooms for
individual work. There is a strong sense of collaboration at our school and all are
committed to ensuring that every child achieves the best that they can.
If successful, you will be working alongside another experienced teacher of the Deaf.
Please do arrange to visit the school where we would be happy to answer any further
queries that you may have.
