Teacher of the Deaf job summary

Icknield High School is a highly successful mixed Academy with an excellent reputation, situated in pleasant grounds on the northern outskirts of Luton. We are seeking to appoint an experienced & enthusiastic Teacher of the Deaf to work with and support students aged 11 to 16 years.

The successful applicant will have responsibility for the Local Authority Hearing Impaired Provision within the school.

We are ideally looking for candidates with the mandatory qualification as a Teacher of the Deaf. We are also willing to consider applications from qualified teachers with recent experience of working with deaf children and who are willing to undertake the mandatory training.

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate

A commitment to the academic progress and emotional well-being of all students within the provision.

A commitment to ensuring the Hearing Support provision meets Quality Standards as set by the Local Authority.

Ability to work in partnership with class teachers and other staff to plan and deliver effective curriculum, including Deaf Awareness and classroom strategies to meet specific needs.

Ability to provide professional development for all staff working with Deaf and Hearing Impaired students.
