We are looking for an enthusiastic Qualified Teacher of the Deaf or an experienced teacher with substantial knowledge of this field to join our multidisciplinary outreach service — SENDsuccess — commissioned by Waltham Forest borough. This is a chance to work with excellent colleagues in a joined-up service that promotes inclusion for EY settings, mainstream school staff, children and their families in the borough.
We support mainstream schools to help their pupils who have sensory impairment, autism, learning or cognitive disabilities.
The work will be across all ages of pupils from 0-18 years.
Own transport is a necessity.
This is an 18-month contract initially. We are looking for a teacher who can join the team asap.
Essential educational requirements
Qualification as a Teacher of the Deaf and/or substantial successful teaching experience with children with hearing impairment
Up to date knowledge of relevant strategies to support children and young people with hearing impairment
Additional specialist qualification in teaching pupils with hearing impairment
Essential skills and experience
Experience of engaging with and supporting parents.
Demonstrate evidence of being able to contribute to the development of values and strategic objectives.
Ability to tolerate, plan for and implement changes in provision and style of working.
Conduct self professionally in a variety of settings and ability to Proven ability to motivate others and to work as a member of a team, including working successfully with senior management, teachers, support staff.
Ability to maintain clarity of service objectives and use resources effectively to achieve them.
Ability to generate innovative solutions to challenging service scenarios.
Ability to communicate clearly on a one-to-one basis, with a variety of groups, presenting credibility in all aspects of the role.
Ability to demonstrate inclusion in practice.
Have a working knowledge of audiological equipment to support HI students.
Knowledge of current assessment and monitoring procedures.
