Fixed term 1-year Part- time Teacher Required for September 2026 (Maternity Cover - 19.50 hours - 3 days)
Athelstan Primary School are seeking to appoint experienced KS1 Teachers. We are is rated as a ‘good school’, in a wonderfully vibrant community, where children and adults from many diverse cultures, beliefs and backgrounds blend together to create Team Athelstan. We are an incredible team, who work very hard and who genuinely want to make the difference for all our pupils. We are looking for a teacher to become part of this team.
Our pupils generally achieve well, but just as importantly we believe that the broader provision, we offer our pupils is crucial to developing the whole child and his or her unique interests and talents. Our varied curriculum has enabled us to achieve many awards, recognising the high quality of our subject leadership and delivery; these include the Primary Science Gilt mark, the Platinum Sports’ mark and the Gold Arts’ mark. In addition to these awards, we have also been granted Green Flag Eco-school status with Distinction for 2 consecutive years.
For a number of years, we were the model school for Read, Write, Inc in Sheffield until this system was discontinued.
These vacancies are within KS1.

We are looking for a Teacher who:
- Is highly motivated with experience of teaching children of all abilities including KS1.

- We are a 3-form entry school, with approximately 603 children on roll.
- Team Athelstan is made up of approximately 85 staff.
- We are based in Sheffield 13. Our children live mainly in the Handsworth and Darnall areas of Sheffield, but many travel from further afield.
- Our children speak more than 15 languages, other than English.
- We have 32% PP, 22% EAL and 37% BME, making Athelstan the rich and diverse community it is.
Team Athelstan Guarantee
Team Athelstan Guarantee’ incorporates the following things we offer to our staff;
- Teaching staff are allowed to take PPA time at home.
- Our Wellbeing Group (made up of staff & governors) meet regularly.
- Staff worry box that allows staff to anonymously leave feedback for leaders.
- Secret Friend system operates; staff members buy or make little presents for someone at various points over the year. The recipient has no idea who is sending their gifts until the very end of the year.
- There is always a team-building aspect of the first INSET day of the school year.
- Every week we have dress down Friday.
- Staff have access to showering facilities, enabling them to exercise before school, or at lunchtime.
- The staff meeting before the Christmas holidays, is always a drop-in for staff where the head buys mince pies etc to say thank you
- Numerous social events take place during the year.

- Release time is given for monitoring and evaluation etc.
- SLT are very supportive of University studies.
