What skills and experience we're looking for

Main Responsibilities: PLANNING, TEACHING AND CLASS MANAGEMENT: 1. You will teach allocated pupils by planning teaching which achieves progression of learning through: i. identifying clear teaching objectives and specifying how they will be taught and assessed ii. setting tasks which challenge pupils and ensure high levels of interest iii. setting appropriate and demanding expectations iv. setting clear targets, building on prior attainment v. identifying SEN or very able pupils vi. providing clear structures for lessons maintaining pace, motivation, and challenge vii. making effective use of assessment and ensure coverage of programmes of study viii. ensuring effective teaching and best use of available time ix. monitoring and intervene to ensure sound learning and discipline x. using a variety of teaching methods to: a. Match approach to content, structure information, present a set of key ideas and use appropriate vocabulary b. Use effective questioning, listen carefully to pupils, give attention to errors and misconceptions c. Select appropriate learning resources and develop study skills through library, ICT, and other sources xi. ensuring pupils acquire and consolidate knowledge, skills and understanding appropriate to the subject taught xii. evaluating their own teaching critically to improve effectiveness ADDITIONAL STANDARDS FOR NURSERY AND EARLY YEARS 2. You will take account of pupils’ needs by providing structured learning opportunities which develop the areas of learning identified in national and local policies and particularly the foundations for literacy and numeracy 3. You will encourage pupils to think and talk about their learning, develop self-control and independence, concentrate, and persevere, and listen attentively 4. You will use a variety of teaching strategies which involve planned adult intervention, first-hand experience and play and talk as a vehicle for learning 5. You will manage parents and other adults in the classroom MONITORING, ASSESSMENT, RECORDING, REPORTING: 6. You will assess how well learning objectives have been achieved and use them to improve specific aspects of teaching 7. You will mark and monitor pupils’ work and set targets for progress Last updated: 31.03.2022 8. You will assess and record pupils’ progress systematically and keep records to check work is understood and completed, monitor strengths and weaknesses, inform planning and recognise the level at which the pupil is achieving. 9. You will prepare and present informative reports to parents OTHER PROFESSIONAL QUALITIES REQUIRED: 10. You will have a working knowledge of teachers’ professional duties and legal liabilities 11. You will operate at all times within the stated policies and practices of the school/academy 12. You will establish effective working relationships and set a good example through your presentation and personal and professional conduct 13. You will endeavour to give every child the opportunity to reach their potential and meet high expectations 14. You will contribute to the corporate life of the school/academy through effective participation in meetings and management systems necessary to support the management of the school/academy 15. You will take responsibility of your own professional development and duties in relation to school/academy policies and practices 16. You will liaise effectively with parents and Academy Advisory Body (AAB) members GENERAL: 17. You will be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, inclusion, health, safety and security, confidentiality, and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person without delay. 18. You will participate in training and other learning activities and performance development as required. 19. You will ensure you carry out your role in a way that demands high standards whilst supporting inclusion and welcoming diverse thinking. 20. You will ensure strict confidentiality in all areas of work. 21. You will work and process personal and sensitive information in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and the UK General Data Protection Regulations (UK GDPR). 22. You will ensure work is conducted in a way that protects the safety and security of information (e.g., strong passwords, reporting breaches, securing paper records, securely disposing of records). 23. You will understand and comply with the statutory guidance regarding safeguarding of children, always ensuring the safeguarding and promotion of children’s welfare, reporting any concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Officer at once. 24. You will always comply with the Trust’s policies and procedures. 25. You will undertake other reasonable duties (with competence and experience) as requested, in accordance with the changing needs of the organisation.
