Springwell school is for pupils aged 4 – 11 years with complex learning difficulties and challenging behaviour in Thornhill, Southampton.
The school is situated on the edge of the city and has excellent facilities including large spacious classrooms, dedicated teaching areas, large multi-sensory rooms and hydro-therapy pool.
We are looking for a number of teachers to join us from September 2020 who are able to make an immediate contribution to the way our pupils learn and engage. We are looking for individuals with drive and enthusiasm, the ability to inspire and who are dynamic in their approach to making learning fun and accessible for all pupils.
Teaching and learning takes place in small class groups with a high level of support and a well-differentiated curriculum to meet individual needs.
The successful candidates will work with an excellent staff team who are both forward thinking and innovative, and who have high expectations of themselves and the pupils they support. You will be responsible for managing the support staff within the class.
We welcome teachers with a variety of backgrounds including those with SEN experience, NQT status and teachers transferring from mainstream. A well-developed induction programme will provide in depth support and guidance.

Essential educational requirements
We are looking for either an outstanding Newly Qualified teacher or experienced, innovative practitioner who is able to start in September 2020 and who possess the necessary skills to motivate our children to achieve the best they can.
To have QTS status
To hold either a BEd, PGCE, Certificate in Education or equivalent.
Essential skills and experience
To have relevant experience and proven ability to:
- work with SEN children
• Plan and regularly assess learning based on the Curriculum requirements
• Employ effective teaching strategies
• Demonstrate an ability to set up and maintain a high quality and purposeful learning environment
• Teach, develop and extend children’s independence.
• Ability to employ strategies that will involve parents in their children’s learning at home and at school
