ABOUT US Springwell Learning community is the umbrella name for Springwell Special Academy and Springwell Alternative Academy. This Teaching role will be at Springwell Alternative Academy which provides cross-phase education for Barnsley children with social, emotional and mental health difficulties SEMH. This position is based at the Alternative Academy in Kendray which works in partnership with the local authority and our local primary and secondary schools to provide Day 6 provision. We are seeking to appoint an inclusive Teacher. You will come with creativity and resilience to join us on our journey. As a Teacher in our special school in Barnsley, you will plan and deliver high quality, inclusive lessons for groups of approximately 10 pupils within a key stage. You will pay equal attention to academic and personal progress and consider pupils' aspirations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lesson Planning & Adaptation: Develop tailored learning programs, adapting standard curriculum for different learning styles and abilities, using specialist resources like technology or sensory tools.
- Individual & Small Group Teaching: Provide focused support, often working one-on-one or with small groups.
- Collaboration: Working with MDTs including speech therapists, occupational therapists, psychologists, social workers as well as SLT.
- Progress Monitoring: Assess student work, track progress, and write reports, involving parents/ carers in the process.
- Behaviour Management: Implement strategies to help students develop self-regulation and coping mechanisms.
- Professional Development: Train and mentor other staff on special educational needs.
