Teacher (Writing Development) job summary

This post is 0.4fte or 0.6fte (negotiable with the successful candidate)

The pupils, governors and staff of Pirton Hill are looking to appoint a teacher for a focused fixed-term improvement project, designed to build lasting capacity, to exclusively work to secure consistently high-quality teaching and pupil outcomes in writing. This will involve working alongside leaders to lead a range of professional development activities and model high-quality writing teaching, while also working directly with pupils.

Pirton Hill Primary School are looking to increase the capacity of their current team by appointing a teacher for a fixed-term improvement project (April 2026 - July 2027), designed to build lasting capacity, to exclusively work with our English Leaders, Handwriting Leader and the Senior Team, to secure consistently high-quality teaching and pupil outcomes in writing.

We are looking for a candidate who has a proven record in writing of:

  • Quality-first classroom practice;
  • Positive impact on pupil outcomes;
  • Expertise in Talk for Writing;
  • Precision assessment and responsive teaching;
  • Leading a range of professional development (including coaching and model lessons)
  • Professional leadership
