Teaching and Learning Assistant job summary

This opportunity is for someone who is caring, enthusiastic and committed to supporting young children’s learning and development, particularly through small-group and targeted support. This will include working with pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) to help them access learning and make excellent progress.

The role will require you to:

  • Work collaboratively with class teachers and SENDCO to deliver high-quality learning support in small groups and where appropriate, one-to-one.
  • Support children to develop confidence, independence and a love of learning.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships that support each child's academic, social and emotional development.
  • Provide targeted support for pupils with a range of needs, including those with SEND.
  • Help create an inclusive, nurturing and stimulating classroom environment.
  • Promote positive behaviour and social skills through calm and consistent support.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and other professionals to ensure the best outcomes for all pupils.

To be paid at a Grade C, applicants must have Grade C/4 or equivalent in GCSE English and Maths, however we welcome applications from candidates who wish to work towards these qualifications but be paid at a Grade B. You will need a good level of spoken English and be a good team player.
