What skills and experience we're looking for

Purpose

We require a dedicated specialist to lead on developing our outstanding Science curriculum. The Science faculty is a high achieving department which achieves excellent outcomes for students. It is a very well equipped department, with 8 dedicated science laboratories, an IT suite and science classroom. Our large modern laboratories are all equipped with practical work areas, interactive whiteboards and visualisers. You will be expected to be able to plan and teach inspiring lessons for Biology, Chemistry and Physics within integrated Science throughout Key Stage 3 and 4.

Principle Accountabilities

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • work with the Head of Science and in collaboration with the Science faculty to develop schemes of work and contribute to the design of the Science curriculum.

  • commit to the school SEARCH ethos

  • to design and implement a training programme for experienced, ECT and trainee teachers

  • have the ability and willingness to contribute to the extra-curricular life of the school.

  • lead the development of the subject area with regard to curriculum design and pedagogy, ensuring that science teaching in the school is inspiring, engaging and inclusive

  • work within and contribute to the wider faculty

  • contribute to whole school learning and support the whole school teaching and learning programmes

  • play an active role as a tutor

  • ensure the behaviour policies are followed to enable outstanding teaching and learning
