What skills and experience we're looking for

  • We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic, and inspirational Teaching Assistant who:
  • Qualifications: Has at least 5 GCSEs (including English and Maths at grade C or above) and be a qualified first aider, with a teaching assistant qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3) being a plus
  • Experience: Has a minimum of 2 years’ recent, relevant classroom experience, with additional experience in supporting pupils with extra needs and employing effective, independent strategies considered advantageous.
  • Skills: Understands classroom roles, child development, and learning processes—including recognizing and addressing barriers to learning—and be involved in pupil reviews and reporting. Possesses strong communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work collaboratively, use initiative, and effectively supervises groups of pupils. Demonstrates integrity, commitment to continuous professional development, and possess very good IT skills alongside a working knowledge of the national curriculum and related learning programmes.
  • Demonstrates a passion for creating a supportive and inclusive environment for all members of our school community.
  • Aligns with our trust-wide values by bringing a positive, collaborative approach to their work and a willingness to continuously develop professionally.

Your Role in Building Brighter Futures

As a Teaching Assistant at Two Rivers CofE Primary School, you will play a key role in contributing to the delivery of Futura’s mission statement of “Building the brightest future for all, enabling every individual to flourish”. As a Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for:

  • Supervising and supporting pupils to ensure their safety and promote active learning, independence, and positive social interactions.
  • Building constructive, inclusive relationships with pupils, tailoring support to meet individual needs while encouraging self-esteem and self-reliance.
  • Collaborating with teachers in planning lessons, implementing individual education or behavior plans, and managing classroom activities.
  • Providing timely and constructive feedback on pupil progress by monitoring, recording, and evaluating achievements using various strategies including ICT.
  • Facilitating communication with parents, external agencies, and other professionals to support pupils’ overall development.
  • Overseeing pupils during non-class times such as lunchtimes, trips, and exams while ensuring adherence to health, safety, data protection, and safeguarding policies.
  • Contributing to the creation and maintenance of learning resources and participating in relevant training to uphold the institution’s values and standards.
