We are looking to recruit a dedicated and motivated Grade 6 Specialist Teaching Assistant to support a Key Stage 2 pupil who is blind and has Autism. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact while working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
About the RoleAs a Specialist Teaching Assistant for VI, you will:
- Lead and deliver learning provision tailored to a pupil who is blind and has complex learning needs.
- Support the use of Braille and tactile learning resources. A Braille qualification is desirable, or a commitment to undertake training will be considered.
- Adapt curriculum and learning activities in collaboration with class teachers and the Visual Impairment Team to ensure accessibility and engagement.
- Work alongside multi-professionals to embed strategies that support learning, communication, and independence.
- Build strong relationships with the pupil and their family, communicating regularly and professionally to support progress and wellbeing..
- Be self-motivated, adaptable, and proactive in leading provision that enables the pupil to learn effectively.
- Experience or willingness to work with pupils who are blind and have Autism.
- Knowledge of, or commitment to learning, Braille.
- Ability to work as part of a team while taking initiative in supporting learning provision.
- Strong communication skills to liaise with multi-professionals and families.
