Teaching Assistant 1 job summary

William Austin Infant School is looking to appoint two Teaching Assistants as soon as possible initially on a fixed term contract until 31st August 2026, but there may be a possibility of the contracts being extended beyond this date. You will provide support to children with additional needs, either on a one to one basis or within a small group, as directed by the class teacher or SENCO.

This post is for term time plus staff training days.

You will need:

  • Some experience of working with children in Key Stage 1 or Foundation Stage.
  • To complete a Level 3 Paediatric course ( 2 days).
  • To be motivated and committed to help our pupils achieve the best outcomes.

There will be physical activity such as bending down in the role, as you are dealing with children.

The hours of work are , Monday to Friday, 8.45 a.m. to 3.25 p.m.

You must have fluent spoken and written English for this role.

All applicants must be prepared to undergo child protection screening relevant to the position, which includes background checks with previous employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service. Those who were born or have lived outside the UK will need to acquire additional overseas checks, which will be the responsibility of the candidate.
