Your Role in Building Brighter Futures
As a 1 to 1 Teaching Assistant at Willowdown Primary School, you will play a key role in contributing to the delivery of Futura’s mission statement of “Building the brightest future for all, enabling every individual to flourish”. Purpose of the role of a Teaching Assistant (see the JD for accountabilities):
The teaching assistant will:
Work with class teachers to raise the learning and attainment of children
Promote child independence, self-esteem and social inclusion
Give support to children, individually, in groups or as a class (under the direction of the teacher), so they can access the curriculum, take part in learning and experience a sense of achievement
What You’ll Bring to Futura:
We are looking for a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to work with a child with EHCP funding, this will be fixed term depending on the length of time the child is in school.
You will have:
Have a good standard of education (5 x GCSE’s – English and Maths C or above) and a relevant, recognized qualification such as NVQ Level 3 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent
Have a minimum of 2 years recent relevant experience, supporting pupils in the classroom
Be able to plan and implement effective actions for pupils at risk of underachieving, a natural communicator with the ability to relate to both pupils and adults, very good IT skills and good use of initiative are some of the skills required.
Be expected to support behavior across the school
Demonstrate a passion for creating a supportive and inclusive environment for all members of our school community.

Contract Type: 16.25 hours per week, these hours can be flexible for the right candidate but will ideally be worked 0900 - 1215 everyday, term time only plus one week, fixed term linked to EHCP funding, expected to be until 31/08/27 or when the child has secured a more suitable place at a specialist school if sooner.
