What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking 2 proactive Teaching Assistants to provide specific 1:1 support for a pupil in lower KS2, delivering emotion coaching, daily interventions in reading, writing and maths, and planning a bespoke curriculum. The roles will also support our wraparound care.

The focus of this role is to help the pupil access the curriculum, manage their daily routine, and develop their independence.

Key Responsibilities

  • 1:1 Support: Support a pupil accessing learning through planning and delivering a bespoke curriculum.

  • Academic Support: Deliver daily 1:1 sessions in reading, writing and maths, following the teacher's planning. We use Little Wandle for phonics.

  • Social & Emotional: Support the pupil’s emotional wellbeing, Elsa training desirable.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Class Teacher and SENCO to review Personal Learning Plans (PLPs) and adapt resources to suit the child’s specific learning style.

  • Wraparound Care: Provide a calm environment for our before and after provision, including basic food preparation.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is patient, resilient, and passionate about inclusive education. You should have:

  • Experience working with children in KS2 and an understanding of sensory needs and potential triggers.

  • Confidence in delivering Phonics sessions (knowledge of Little Wandle Phonics is desirable).

  • Elsa or equivalent training or experience.

  • The ability to build a strong, trusting bond with a specific child while maintaining professional boundaries.

  • A team-player attitude, essential for working in a small school environment.

The candidate will be required to undergo a full enhanced DBS check and must be eligible to work in the UK.

We have 2 roles available, both will provide 1-1 support to a child, and both will support our before or after school wraparound provision.

Role 1: M-F 7.45 - 12.45. Unpaid break between 8.45-9am. 23.75 hours per week. Actual salary £13,967.

Role 2: M-F 12.45 - 5.15. 22.5 hours per week. Actual salary £13,232.
